The secret to keeping your laundry fresh and clean

laundry booster powder
Are you tired of your laundry coming out smelling funky and feeling crunchy? If you're looking for a way to boost your laundry game, you're in luck! In this blog post, I'll share how I keep my laundry brighter, cleaner, and fresher-smelling.
There are commercial laundry boosters available and TONS of DIY recipes out there. This is the one that works for me. I've been using it for a couple of years now and love it.

supplies:

  • washing soda

  • borax

  • baking soda

  • large container or jar

Recipe:

  • 1 part washing soda

  • 1 part borax

  • 1 part baking soda

  • combine all powders in a single container and gently mix

“1 part” means equal measurements of every single ingredient.

ex: 1 cup washing soda, 1 cup borax, 1 cup baking soda

or 1 lb washing soda, 1 lb borax, 1 lb baking soda

you can make as much or as little of the powder mix as you want.

How to use:

  • add 1/3 cup of your laundry booster mix to your laundry in addition to your regular laundry detergent. this is not meant to be a substitute for detergent. it is a booster.

  • top loader & front load washing machine:

    • pour 1/3 cup of the laundry booster mix directly into the washer drum. important: do not place inside any detergent or fabric softener compartment. Must go straight into the drum where the water and laundry are going.

  • run your machine on the desired wash cycle and dry as you usually do.

faq:

  • can I use this with white and dark laundry? yes, safe to use with all laundry*

  • do i use this with hot or cold water? any, it is safe to use with whatever temp of water you want

  • can i use this with every load of laundry i do? yes, i do.

  • can i substitute an ingredient for something else? im not sure, this is the exact recipe that works for me.

  • can i “strip” my laundry using this mix? yes! if your laundry needs a good soak to get rid of oil, odors, stains, or dinginess, add a scoop of this booster to a tub/sink/bucket and let your laundry soak in it for 12-24 hours, stirring every so often. then wash/dry as normal. you’ll be amazed what comes out of your laundry.

All of these natural ingredients help clean fabric more effectively. I especially love it for towels and bedding. Its science. It won't cost you that much for a big batch. I mix 1 pound of each ingredient which results in a mix that lasts me 4-6 weeks. This is the giant glass jar I keep my booster in.

other laundry tips:

  • stop using liquid fabric softener

  • use distilled white vinegar in place of fabric softener during the rinse cycle of your washing load.

  • use wool dryer balls in the to dry clothes faster

  • hang dry jeans to keep their shape and size
